Child's Knit Poncho

Getting some Christmas presents out of the way...

Child's Knit Poncho
For child about 3-5 years old
(I cajoled my 4 yr old into modeling, but he told me "pink is not my favorite color.")
Wool Ease Thick and Quick; 20% Wool, 80% Acrylic
Takes about 8 oz (so will need more than one skein to finish), more if you add fringe.

Gauge: 7 stitches, 14 rows per 4 inches
Size 17 needles

CO 22 sts using long-tail cast on
Slip first st as if to purl, knit remaining sts
Repeat this row to work in garter stitch, slipping first stitch of each row.
Knit until rectangle is 20 inches long and BO, leaving a tail for sewing the seams.

Repeat this to make 2 rectangles, 11.5" x 20"

Block lightly to 11.5" x 22"

Sewing together:
Sew side of rectangle 1 to end of rectangle 2 lining up edges.  Measure 11.5" from end of rectangle 2 and place a marker (spot "b" on chart).  Sew side of rectangle 2 to end of rectangle 1, matching up corner b to marker and the other 2 corners.  Sew seams and weave in ends.
